Coaches, this Friday and Saturday, 8/26 & 8/27, SV/SLV will be hosting two FREE soccer clinics.   These clinics will be taught by Kim Petersen, former Division I player at Stanford University and former professional player in Japan’s J-League.  This is a great opportunity to learn from an experienced player and coach.

The first clinic will be held this Friday, 8/26, from 6-8pm, outdoors at the upper Siltanen BBQ area–the same place we held the coach meeting last week.  Please note that this is a change in location from earlier notifications.  We had hoped to meet outdoors at the Sheraton Four Points, but this fell through.

The evening clinic covers topics such as team and parent management, tips for keeping the kids engaged, how to plan a practice, options for game formations, etc.

We will be sharing the link to the presentation, so bring a phone or larger device if you want to follow along with the PowerPoint.  Also, bring a sweatshirt, a chair, and feel free to bring yourself dinner or refreshments.  We’re confident the class will be even better with a beverage of your choice!

Saturday morning, 8/27, the second half of the clinic will be held on the field at Highland Park, 9:00-11:00 am.  This portion of the clinic will cover the proper elements for teaching skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting.  We will also cover the “pace” of practice and go over some of the most popular games and drills.

Wear your soccer shoes if you’re willing and able to actually participate in the play.  You may bring your children to participate in the clinic, but they must be at least 8 years old, with some prior soccer experience.

We look forward to seeing you there!
